Amir Rashad - Course Facilitator
 

Amir has taught mathematics and history for the past 10 years in Oakland and Berkeley California .  In 1999, while teaching at Castlemont High School , he started a male empowerment program called Each One Teach One, to help guide at-risk urban youth to become productive men.  He is currently the Educational director of the Timbuktu Educational Foundation (www.timbuktufoundation.org) whose purpose is to preserve, translate and disseminate the ancient manuscripts of the University of Timbuktu in Timbuktu , Mali , West Africa dating back to the 10th century.  He has taken multiple trips to West Africa , and is currently heading Youth Africa, a cultural exchange program taking youth from America to exchange cultures with youth in West Africa .  Amir lectures at schools, university and grass roots events throughout the US , educating the masses on the truth of African history, and connecting people, particularly African Americans, to African roots and
 culture.  He has currently started an enterprise called Youngtreprenurs (www.youngtreprenurs.com), which provides educational and job training to urban males who desire to become entrepreneurs or be prepared for the competitive job market.  Amir has been involved as a course facilitator inside San Quentin with Keepin’ It Real for 2 years, allowing him to provide a sense of awareness to men inside prison as well as the young men who he works with every day.
